Goofy Emmett's Session at Jigg's Landing

Meet Emmett! And doesn’t his name suit him? He’s a 2-year-old black labrador/beagle mix, rescued from Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue. He’s the goofiest canine I’ve ever met.

I’ve been wanting to check out historical Jigg’s Landing for a while, and it was just around the corner from Emmett’s house. When we first arrived, we had the park all to ourselves...but slowly the park filled COMPLETELY with High School teens all decked out for prom! That’s a credit to how pretty the park is! Emmett was incredibly well-behaved and took it all in stride.

I loved this park, and it will definitely soon become a feature on my Locations Page. It was just stunning. However, swimming is NOT recommended, we spied a baby alligator nosing around the pier! Yikes! But the lake is beautiful, and there’s 2 fishing piers, boat access, playground, a big grassy parking lot for running around, and wildflowers.

When Melissa, Emmett’s Mom, and I first started discussing the session, she emphasized how much she loved Emmett’s expressions, and had recently seen the viral photo shoot from Elke Vogelsang and loved how she captured expressions. I do greatly admire her work, but I explained that I do location-based photography and she was ok with that.

At first, and like with most of my clients, Emmett was trying to understand what we were wanting from him. But, he quickly relaxed and let his personality shine! A funny fact about Emmett is he’s VERY particular about his dental care, and goes bonkers for dental treats. I’m not sure if it is the black fur, but his teeth do seem to glow white don’t they?

These are my favorites from the session. A beautiful forever fur family- Emmett, and his parents Nick & Melissa.
